Though the enemy is well organised, they are led by a religious figurehead: a young general, Andrazia, a girl proclaiming herself to be the true Incarnation of Maethromin, the God of Elements. Though Kitarlia, the Incarnation of Maethromin residing in Tharador claims this must be a falsehood, and aims to strike down her rival and drive the invaders from the shores of her homeland.
